Shedstock keeps a catalogue of the materials and tools around your home. It has no server of its own: what you record is stored on your devices and synced through iCloud. This policy explains what the app keeps, where it goes, and the small amount of diagnostic data that does reach us.
1 · Who we are
Shedstock is written and published by Greg Raine, an individual developer based in the United Kingdom, who is the data controller for the diagnostic data described in section 5. There is no company behind the app and no other party with access to your catalogue.
For anything in this policy, write to greg@shedstock.co.uk. You will get a reply within 5 working days.
2 · Your catalogue
Everything you record — items, sizes, quantities, how full they are, locations, notes, who has borrowed what, and the photos you attach — is stored in the app's own private storage on your device.
It syncs between your own devices through iCloud, in the household owner's iCloud account. Apple stores it under Apple's terms and privacy policy. There is no Shedstock server, so we hold no copy of your catalogue and cannot read it, restore it or hand it to anyone.
3 · Shared households
When you invite someone to a household, the household stays in the owner's iCloud and Apple's iCloud sharing gives the people you invite access to it. Everyone in the household can see what is in it; people you invite to edit can change it.
Apple shows the people in a shared household each other's names or Apple Account details as part of sharing. The owner can remove anyone, and anyone can leave. Invitations, membership and the shared data are all handled by Apple; none of it passes through us.
4 · Camera, photos and scanning
Shedstock asks for camera access so you can photograph items and scan the text on their labels. Label recognition happens on your device. Photos you take or choose are stored with the item, as described in section 2, and are never sent to us.
Natural-language search uses Apple Intelligence on devices that support it, under Apple's own privacy terms. Your searches are not sent to us.
You can withdraw camera or photo access at any time in iOS Settings → Shedstock. Scanning and taking photos stop; everything already recorded stays.
5 · Diagnostics and analytics
Shedstock uses analytics and crash reporting. It includes Google Firebase for three jobs: Crashlytics for crash and error reports, Analytics for anonymous counts of which screens and features get used, and Messaging for notifications (section 6). Google is a processor for all three.
What these send is diagnostic: crash traces, performance data, a device identifier and which parts of the app were opened. They never include your catalogue, your photos, your locations or the names of the people you share with. Shedstock does not track you across other apps or websites, and never asks for App Tracking Transparency permission.
If you opted in to sharing analytics with developers in iOS Settings, Apple separately sends aggregate crash and usage statistics that identify nobody.
6 · Notifications
Shedstock asks whether it may send notifications after you first share a household, because that is when changes from other people can arrive. If you allow it, Firebase Messaging holds a notification token for your device. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings → Shedstock.
7 · Purchases
Shedstock Pro is bought through Apple. We never see your payment details. The app checks the purchase on your device using Apple's StoreKit; no receipt is sent to a server of ours. Apple is the merchant of record, so refunds and payment questions go to Apple.
8 · Keeping and deleting
Your catalogue stays until you delete it. You control every copy:
- An item or a location. Delete it in the app. The deletion syncs to your other devices and to anyone you share the household with.
- A shared household. Members can leave it, and the owner can stop sharing it. Data stays in the owner's iCloud.
- Everything in iCloud. The owner can delete Shedstock's iCloud data in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud.
- The app. Deleting Shedstock removes its copy from that device. Data in iCloud and in existing device backups stays until you delete it there.
9 · Your rights
We do not hold your catalogue, so there is nothing of it for us to give you, correct or erase: you do that yourself in the app and in iCloud. The diagnostic data in section 5 is processed on the basis of a legitimate interest in the app working, and you can object to it at any time.
Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR you may ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it corrected or erased, object to processing, or ask for it in a portable form. Under the CCPA, California residents have equivalent rights to know and delete; Shedstock does not sell or share personal information. Write to greg@shedstock.co.uk. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office or to your own country's supervisory authority.
10 · Children and changes
Shedstock is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect anything from a child, and it asks for no age or date of birth.
When this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it, and a change to what is collected or where it goes will also be noted in the release notes for the version that introduces it.
